Susan Belleperche – Conductor
Music Director, Susan Belleperche is a graduate of the School of Music and the Faculty of Education, University of Windsor. She holds a master’s degree from Wayne State University (Detroit) and pursued further graduate studies at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor). She began her career teaching elementary school music and after 7 years at Benson Elementary School (Windsor) she taught Music Education courses at the Faculty of Education, University of Windsor. In addition, for three years she coordinated the Chatham-Kent Faculty of Education programs. Ms. Belleperche has been a frequent Music Director with Windsor Light Music Theatre, and has been Music Director for Stagecrafters (Royal Oak, Michigan) and The Farmington Players (Farmington Hills, Michigan). An alumnus of the Ontario Youth Choir Susan has always enjoyed participating in choral music ensembles. When the opportunity arose to work with the WEYC she happily made the commitment to work again with children and youth. Susan is also the Festival Coordinator for the Kiwanis Music Festival Windsor-Essex County.
Christine Prosser – Conductor
Christine Prosser is a music educator who holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Vocal Performance and Education. A Canada Council for the Arts grant recipient, she began her career in arts management in New York and in Toronto, where she was responsible for managing the careers of such prominent Canadian artists as Jon Kimura Parker, Catherine Robbin and Richard Margison. Upon her return to her hometown of Chatham, she established a successful voice studio while teaching music in the public school system. Over the years, her choral groups have been featured in concerts with the Windsor Symphony, Orchestra London, and at Western University, and both her choirs and her vocal students are regular prize winners in local and provincial competitions.
Gabrielle Smith – Assistant
Gabrielle Smith is a photojournalist with a long-time love of vocal music. She began at the age of 11 in community music theatre, before moving on to the Walkerville Centre for the Creative Arts in high school. There she studied under Elspeth Maynard in the vocal program, and filled her extracurricular time with glee clubs, a cappella clubs, and choirs, including the WEYC. Now with a photojournalism diploma under her belt from Loyalist College (Belleville), she has returned to Windsor excited to fill her free time with music once again.
Emily Hayes – Assistant
Emily Hayes has been around music as long as she can remember. Being born into a very musical family she was constantly immersed in music and encouraged to further her musical experiences. Following in her mother’s footsteps she has begun teaching piano to students of all ages. Some other highlights from her career are many successes in Kiwanis including two recommendations to the provincial music festival where she received an honourable mention. Emily is constantly working towards broadening her musical abilities. She has been singing with Windsor-Essex Youth Choir and has been playing flute in Gemini Wind Ensemble for six years. In addition to singing, she also assisted the choir’s director with the Allegro ensemble in 2014. She has been involved in other various musical groups including occasionally playing piano for her mother’s choir at Good Shepherd Parish, St. Gregory site. Currently she is working towards her music exams and enjoying expanding her musical capabilities.
